Domenico Ricatti at the Moonlight Half Marathon on Saturday May 25
The athlete from Apulia declares: “I love to have fun while running and I want to do so in Jesolo.
Veneto has always brought me good luck and I am fond of Venicemarathon staff”
Venice, May 20, 2013 - Domenico Ricatti loves to run in Veneto and is fond of Venicemarathon staff. After the 4th place at the last year marathon, the Apulian athlete tries again to do its best next May 25 at the 3rd Moonlight Half Marathon, the international half marathon organized by Venicemarathon Club in cooperation with the Jesolo City Council and the Cavallino Treporti City Council.
On Saturday evening Domenico Ricatti will be one of the most favourite athletes of the moonlight race which starts at 8 p.m. in Cavallino, runs along the shore and arrives in Jesolo in Piazza Mazzini
Domenico is the 2011 Italian Champion of the 10,000 meters and the Italian champion on the 10 K road race in 2012. He loves to run in Veneto as it brings him good luck. In fact last October 28 he arrived 4th at the Venicemarathon despite the severe weather conditions and last April 21 in Padua he was able to revise his personal best time on the marathon distance: 2h15’16”. On the half marathon distance his personal best time is 1h04’00” ran in 2011 in Pieve di Cento. He is trained by Piero Incalza and he runs for the air force team. He lives between Modena, where his trainer lives, Bracciano, location of his team and Barletta where he was born and lives.
“I love to remind people to the fact that I come from the same town of Pietro Mennea a legend for me! – these are the words of Domenico - After the adventure of the Venicemarathon of last year nothing can scare me anymore. The severe weather conditions toughened both the body and the spirits therefore the rain at the Maratona di Sant’Antonio couldn’t stop me besides I was even able to do my personal best time. Next Saturday I want to run following my pace and I am sure I will have fun therefore it will be a great feast that I would like to share with the public in Jesolo”.
The fast and spectacular race course could even see the setting of the new course record. Last year the young Kenyan Robert Chemosin established the course record: 1h03’31”.

The registration cap was finally reached and the registrations have been closed. A great increase was registered by the foreign runners that reach number 500 and the countries represented have passed from 26 to 36. Out of these 36, 10 are from the rest of the world: over 60 runners come from USA. Almost all Italian regions are represented. These numbers show that the event is able to generate a tourism flow in a low season period and to create a new economic impact on the territory.

The 3rd Moonlight Half Marathon is getting closer to 3,000 registrations
The 3rd edition of the International Half Marathon from Cavallino Treporti to Jesolo will be run on 25th May
In few days the purchasing of the Walk of Life – Telethon bib-numbers for the 28th Venicemarathon will start
Venice, 8th May 2013 – After the great success of the first edition of the Venice Running Day which took place last 28th April, the Venicemarathon Staff is now getting ready for the 3rd Moonlight Half Marathon of next 25th May
The shore which connects Cavallino Treporti to Jesolo will see again the runners of the international half marathon organized by Venicemarathon together with the City Council of Jesolo and the City Council of Cavallino Treporti.
The race starts as always at sunset time (at 8 p.m.) from Lungomare San Felice in Cavallino and finishes in the heart of Jesolo, in Piazza Mazzini. The fast and picturesque race course snakes along the Venetian Lagoon, passing by breathtaking landscapes colored by the sunset lights.
The night race has become a must for many runners thanks to the fascinating landscapes: the sea, the beach and the organizing quality of the Venicemarathon staff. This is confirmed by the number of the applications already received almost 3,000. Therefore the participant cap fixed at 3,500 bib numbers has almost been reached. All information on how to register, pay and services included are at athletes' disposal on www.venicemarathon.it. Next 15th May the registration fee will pass from 27 Euros to 32 Euros.
Right in these days the purchasing of the charity bib numbers connected to the 28th Venicemarathon will start. As in the past 1,000 bib numbers will be devoted to the charity projects supported by Venicemarathon. This year a new charity partner will enter the race: it is the Walk of Life Project carried on by Telethon. Thanks to this project the runners who will buy a Walk of Life bib number run to support people affected by genetic diseases and are waiting for treatments. Once more running a marathon will be not only fun and passion but a moment to support someone who is in need of help. Bib numbers will soon be available on the website: www.venicemarathon.it and purchasable online.
The campaign to support the charity projects started last April in San Giuliano Park with the Venice Running Day, goes on with the Moonlight Half Marathon in Piazza Mazzini in Jesolo and will finish with the Venicemarathon next 27th October.
